West Lancashire is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and scenic places to visit in the north of England and offers a vast variety of things to do. So whether your visit is for fishing, cycling, golfing, bird-watching, walking, family fun, work, or relaxing, we really are the dream destination. The many surrounding villages each offer a different experience for shopping and eating out and the waterways, nature reserves, and family attractions all make for contrasting days out. We are easily accessible via the motorway and train networks and The Lake District, Manchester, Southport and Liverpool are within easy reach.
Our three individual and private holiday cottages, based on the grounds of the farm, each offer their own unique features and are furnished to the highest standard throughout and have a contemporary yet cosy country feel. Prices are extremely competitive, starting from £271 per week, and we pride ourselves on the cleanliness and condition of all the rooms and equipment.

Cliff and Claire have got this cottage absolutely right. Quality kitchen equipment and comfortable furnishings throughout. The hosts are so helpful and thoughtfull.Nothing was too much trouble. We had a problem with the tv on the first day and Claire promptly went out and bought another one. We would highly recommend this location to anyone wanting a peaceful rural location.
Another great stay at Barn Owl Cottage. It’s a fantastic location with lots to do, and the cottage is perfect for the family – really spacious, well equipped and immaculate throughout. Highly recommended!
We stayed in Maltkiln Cottage, it was a really lovely cottage, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and very warm and cosy with everything you needed to relax and enjoy your stay. You could sit and watch the chickens wandering by the patio doors and see the horses in the paddock, it was in a lovely spot. Claire and Cliff were very kind and welcoming. There is plenty to see in the area and some lovely places to eat out, we would highly recommend a holiday here.
We were visiting Lancashire overnight in November and were delighted when we found out that Barn Owl cottage was available. Its a fantastic cottage, beautifully restored to a high specification by the friendly and welcoming owners Claire and Cliff, who live nearby in the main farm house. Its really well equipped, with everything you could need for a short break, and is very roomy – more than enough space for a family of 4.
