For a quick bite to eat or a quick shop for your BBQ or breakfast, you will never be short of choice. Within walking distance or a short drive there are numerous cafes and farm shops where you can enjoy and purchase top quality and locally grown food. The local Spar also sells salads, vegetables and meat produced nearby.

Below is a taster of what’s on offer within walking distance or a 15-minute drive. There is really no need to travel any further as the variety and the standard of the food and service is second to none.

Cedar Farm, just a short walk away, is home to 25 independent businesses, all run by people with a real passion for their craft. You can browse and buy contemporary art, clothing, home furnishings and beauty products, many of which are made on-site and can’t be found on the high street. There is also a local Farmer’s Market held on the first Saturday of every month.


The Café @ Cedar Farm

The Cafe is well known for the high quality of its food. Established over twenty years ago, it has been recognised by Lancashire Life readers and The Guardian for its enduring excellence. The menu is mainly, but not exclusively, vegetarian with the emphasis on home made dishes from locally sourced ingredients, lovingly prepared by their chefs.


The Coffee Roastery @ Cedar Farm

The coffee roasters here are vintage English Whitmee machines, sometimes described as industrial antiques! The coffee and cakes here are delicious and the atmosphere is busy and vibrant but also relaxed. A large selection of coffees and teas are also available to buy. for sale.


The Food Shop @ Cedar Farm

Their specialty is producing home cooked foods using natural ingredients, mainly sourced locally, ensuring quality and freshness. They produce their own salads, pates and pastas and sell a vast array of condiments.

This delightful converted barn within walking distance is definitely worth a visit. You can be rest assured of a warm welcome by Brenda, Sarah, Helen and the rest of the team. They serve traditional and freshly made meals in their cosy rustic tearoom as well as mouthwatering cakes, fresh fruit pies and delicious icecreams.

The farm shop offers a vast range of homemade and locally produced goods so is well worth a visit to stock your fridge up for the duration of your stay. All food can be traced back to source and includes; fresh meat from Award winning butchers Hallsworth & Son of Ormskirk, Southport Potted Shrimps, free range eggs and duck eggs from Tarleton, milk from Monk’s Dairy from Hilldale, tomatoes and strawberries from Hesketh Bank and spinach, rocket and salad from Mawdesley.

There is also a gift shop which sells clothing, footwear, jewelry, soft furnishings and toys to name a few.

Heskin Hall Farmer’s Market and Craft Centre is a unique retail and leisure experience that will appeal to all the family. Featuring over 50 shops and businesses which include a wide variety of crafts, gifts, clothing, farmshop, butchers, interiors, bridalwear, beauty salon, jewellers and hairdressers plus the nationally acclaimed Hepplestone Fine Art Gallery. There is also The Crafty Potter where you can get creative, and they serve a hearty breakfast as well as all the usual drinks and snacks.


The Two Birds Tea Room @ Heskin Hall

This inviting tea room is perfect for a coffee, cake, snack or light meal between shops. It offers paninis, toasties, sandwiches, soups & salads all made using fresh local produce & home cooked meats. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and there is a wood burning stove during the winter months and a patio area for glorious sunny days.

This is a well stocked food hall offering fresh fruit & veg, hand-picked British and world wines, champagne and ales in addition to locally-baked breads, cheeses and deli produce as well as lots of gluten free offerings.

Here you can enjoy simple home cooked food in beautiful relaxed surroundings. They serve breakfasts, lunch, afternoon teas and ice-creams plus a fabulous Sunday roast, all using all local produce. They are also fully licensed and offer lager on draft as well as a selection of local bottled beer, ales and hand-picked wines. They have a daily specials menu and Wednesday is a particular treat as the fish man comes on site and they tailor the specials to the catch of the day.
