This very popular pub is definitely worth a visit if you want a great selection of excellent traditional pub food, ales and wine. It has won numerous accolades over the years including the Lancashire Dining Pub of the year in the Good Pub Guide in 1999, 2001, 2005 and 2006,2012. With the farm shop next door, the kitchen uses local produce and some of their own meat grown on the farm in Parbold. In the summer there is a large garden at the back with a well tended but unconventional bowling green, a games lawn and wildlife area.

This local watering hole in the centre of Mawdesley is a contemporary styled pub and restaurant. They serve delicious, home-made food and have a superbly stocked bar. They are very family friendly and dogs are welcome in the bar area. The Red Lion prides itself on sourcing its food from local producers, and only the finest ingredients are used to prepare their meals. They often have entertainment on in the evening and hold regular theme nights such as steak and curry nights, quiz and poker nights etc.
